A NEW beauty salon has opened its doors in Pontypool, citing the community spirit as a drawing point to the town centre location.

Utopia Hair, Nails and Beauty employs seven members of staff and offers a wide range of beauty treatments.

It was officially opened by the mayor of Torfaen, councillor Jessica Powell, on Thursday, October 5 and is offering new customers 10 per cent off their first visit.

Sarah Young, who runs the business with her partner Dean Jenkins, said: “We want to create a place where people feel welcome, comfortable and at home.

"We love the community spirit in Pontypool and from the minute we opened our doors the support from the public has been fantastic.

“We have also had fantastic business support from Torfaen council who have helped us along the way and continue to stay in touch and support us.”

Cllr Alan Jones, executive member with responsibility for business, said: “It is fantastic to see a new business opening their doors in Pontypool town centre and I wish Sarah and Dean every success for the future.

“We can offer new businesses a huge range of support, from finding a premises to accessing funding, and I would urge anyone looking for some support to contact us to find out how we may be able to help.”
