A GENEROUS accountant and his staff turned Santa and his elves to deliver more than one hundred presents to Cwmbran school pupils.

Crownbridge School caters for young people with severe learning difficulties and held a festive event yesterday with Santa and a reindeer visiting.

Staff from Phil Bessant Ltd chartered management accountants also joined the celebrations by delivering scores of gifts from selection boxes to bubbles.

Mr Bessant said: “We have a personal connection with the school and have been donating Christmas presents for the past couple of years.

“We like to be able to do something for the children at Christmas and this year we were delighted to be able to deliver the 135 presents in person.”

Crownbridge School caters for young people between the ages of three and 19.

Its facilities include a purpose-built hydrotherapy pool, a dedicated space for physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and a team of NHS nurses who work with pupils.

Acting deputy head, Shane Hayes, gave thanks to Phil Bessant Ltd for the gifts, The Parents and Friends of Crownbridge School for organising the event and the Lylac Ridge Animal Learning Centre for providing the reindeer.

“There was a great festive atmosphere with the lead up to Christmas,” he said.
