TENANTS in Pontypool’s tallest block of flats - Fairview Court – will be offered a free home fire safety check on Wednesday, December 13 in a partnership between Bron Afon and the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS).
Neville Brown, senior technical officer for Bron Afon, said: “A few years ago we fitted sprinklers to Fairview Court but that’s just one part of our fire safety work in our high-rise blocks.
“Our local firefighters often use the block for training drills.
"This exercise is another way we are helping our tenants and leaseholders feel safer in their homes.”
Stuart Townsend, station manager from SWFRS, said: “Home Fire Safety checks are a key part of our role to ensure members of our communities are safer in their homes and it’s great to work with our partners Bron Afon on this initiative.”
