A PRIMARY school in Cwmbran has entered into the festive spirit by donating an array of food and gifts to a Torfaen foodbank.
Following a successful harvest festival collection for the Eastern Valley Foodbank in Pontnewynydd, the children, families and staff of Nant Celyn Primary School decided to extend the support ahead of the Christmas period.
Following an appeal, a substantial amount of items have been collected and the school is hopeful that the donations will bring joy to families in Torfaen over the Christmas holidays.
Jonathan Bussy, the head teacher at Nant Celyn said: “We were delighted to once again support the Eastern Valley Foodbank at harvest festival.
“We are grateful to Louise from the foodbank for coming into school to explain why the children’s donations were so important.
“Whilst at the school, Louise mentioned their Christmas appeal and we couldn’t help but get involved.
“The support has again been amazing from staff, pupils, parents and the wider school community.”
The items donated by the school will help support families in crisis and extend the gift of giving at Christmas time.
Louise Ingle, from the Eastern Valley Foodbank, said : “We are so thankful to the staff, pupils and parents at Nant Celyn for their generosity in donating Christmas food and gifts to the Eastern Valley Foodbank, all of which will make such a massive difference to families throughout Torfaen who are in crisis situations this Christmas time.”
