MEDICAL staff from St John Cymru Wales have climbed south Wales’ highest peak to help fund a trip to northern India to deliver first-aid training.
The Free Press has previously reported Mark Gordon and Gaz Lloyd-Ford, of St John Cymru’s Cwmbran division, have been chosen to teach first aid skills to to members of the exiled Tibetan community, from young people and monks, to nuns, refugees and students.
Over the weekend the pair, who have raised £225 towards their £2,250 goal so far, took part in their first fundraiser by tackling Pen y Fan.
The pair said they “both had grins all over (their) faces as (they) drove home”.
“We were so pleased with our achievement,” Mr Lloyd-Ford said.
The pair also recently gave first aid demonstrations and advice in Cwmbran.
