TORFAEN council have confirmed that all waste collections, which were missed due to the adverse weather, are planned to take place before next week.

Waste collectors were unable to make their rounds on Thursday, March 1 and Friday, March 2 after the heavy snowfall associated with Storm Emma and the Beast from the East.

The council has put plans in place to that they can attempt to address the backlog caused by the wintry weather.

One extra bag of side waste will be collected on Saturday, March 10 or Sunday, March 11 for collections missed on Monday or Tuesday.

“All black box recycling, food waste and card due for collection on these dates will be collected on your next scheduled day,” said a council spokesman.

“We anticipate that waste and recycling collections due to take place on Wednesday, March 7; Thursday, March 8 and Friday, March 9 will take place as normal.

“Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time – we are drafting in additional staff to support our waste crews to ensure that waste and recycling collections are back to normal as soon as possible.”
