A CANCER fundraiser from Cwmbran personally invited to raise money for an appeal by Peter Andre has smasher her original charity target.

Samantha Williams set out to raise £300 for Cancer Research UK after receiving an online message from the Mysterious Girl singer who set up a Just Giving page in honour of his late brother, Andrew, who passed away from the disease last year.

But she has since raised more than £800, from donations and various events, including a Christmas Fair at The Crows Nest on Wednesday December 4 which raised £106 in table sales, £136 in raffle tickets, and further amounts in teas and coffees.

The Coed Eva resident said she had been “overwhelmed” by the generosity of some donators, including Peter Andre’s other brother, Chris, who also left her grateful message which read: ‘Keep going Samantha, you’re doing fantastic. We are all really proud of you’.

Mrs Williams said: “I’m really surprised to have raised so much. People have been really generous and one of my Facebook friends even donated £50. Everyone has just mucked in.”

The 42-year-old has until Pete’s birthday on February 27 – also the birthday of her daughter, Kayleigh – to submit her total contribution.
