FOUR men from Bangladesh were arrested after a UK Border Agency (UKBA) raid on a Cwmbran restaurant on Sunday evening.

A spokesman for UKBA said the raid targeted "illegal working" at Tiffins Indian Buffet Restaurant on Glyndwr Road, at around 4pm on Sunday, and saw three men arrested at the restaurant itself and another arrested at a linked residential address in Cwmbran.

Two men aged 33 and 38, were arrested for over-staying their visas while a 43-year-old man was found to have entered the UK illegally.

A fourth Bangladeshi man, 33, was arrested at a house in Caradoc Road after checks revealed he had also over-stayed his visa.

The men are currently being detained at Newport police station and now face removal from the UK.

Tiffins was served with a penalty notice for the three immigration offenders found working there, said the spokesman.

"Proof must now be provided to the Home Office that the correct pre-employment checks were carried out on the men or a fine of up to £10,000 per illegal worker will be imposed," he said in a statement.
