CHILDREN from Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran will be dressing up in aid of charity.

All 384 school children will dress up as whatever they want to be when they grow up today in aid of Save the Children’s “I Want To Be…” fundraiser.

Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran Head teacher, Edward Wyn Jones, said: “We have been discussing the world of work with the pupils. We have also been discussing everyone’s future goals.

“Even in this economic and employment climate it is still important for young people to be ambitious.”

Parents will also be attending the school to speak about their careers with the children.

One of the parents taking part is dance instructor Amanda Ellis who was told that her career choice was possibly not the most realistic.

She said: “I have been dancing since I was six years old. That is what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, but the career advisors at the time found it a difficult choice.

“I hope to be able to show the children at Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran that they can follow their dreams,” said Ms Ellis.

Last year, over 160,000 children took part in the “I Want To Be…” fundraiser. To take part visit savethechildren.org.uk/iwanttobe.
