WITH 340 people already signed up to take part in this year’s Mic Morris 10k, organisers say they are confident a further 150 runners will sign up on the day of the big race this Sunday.

If so, it will see the Mic Morris Memorial Trust reach its target of 500 participants.

Runners will be putting in their final preparations ahead of the race, which is being sponsored by the Argus' sister paper the Free Press and which takes place on Sunday, starting in Blaenavon and finishing in Pontypool Park.

Road closures will be in place for the charity run, with the A4043 Cwmavon Road closed from the junction at Prince Street to the junctions Broad Street/Union Street, between 8am and 11am.

It has been said that emergency access will be maintained at all times as far as is reasonably practicable.

All donations from the race will go towards the Mic Morris Sporting Trust, which honours policeman Mic Morris, who died while on a training jog in 1983, aged just 24.

Anyone interested in taking part can sign up on the day with Christine Philpott.
