A CWMBRAN girl has taken on the latest loom band craze for a good cause this month as she aims to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care.

Ten-year-old Lara Temby has taken on the challenge to make 100 loom band bracelets, necklaces and rings, to sell at a Macmillan Coffee Morning at the Pontypool Civic Centre next month.

The Year Six Croesyceiliog Primary School pupil hopes to raise around £50 for the charity when she sets up a stall at the civic centre’s coffee morning on September 26.

Proud mum Claire Temby, 37, a nursery nurse at Croesyceiliog Primary School, said her daughter was asked to sell the bands by neighbour Lynda Wills.

“She has been making them for a while now but started making special green and yellow ones since July 22 as they are the Macmillan colours.

“She started making them when the craze first started and has been making them for the charity all off her own back by using her pocket money to by the packs of bands for £1.”

“It takes her around five to 10 minutes to make one,” her mum added.

“She is really good at it and has been watching a lot of videos on YouTube of how to make the different patterns and has help from her cousin, Emily Temby.”

The Macmillan Coffee Morning will take place on September 26 at the Pontypool Civic Centre from 10am onwards.
