THE golden girl of Welsh sport Frankie Jones delighted children as she led a gymnastics session at a Pontypool sports hub on the weekend.

The Commonwealth Games gold and silver medallist was at Pontypool Active Living Centre, which unveiled rhythmic gymnastics classes earlier this month.

The star gymnast was in Pontypool on Sunday, where her dad, Colin, is based.

Frankie tweeted: “Had such a lovely morning doing a bit of coaching and seeing some brand new gymnasts at their first ever session.”

Torfaen Leisure Trust runs the sports centre in Trosnant Street.

The trust praised Frankie who showed off some of her moves and posed for pictures with her medals she won at the Glasgow Games.

Trust chief executive Sally Church said: “We were really delighted with the visit.

“She was absolutely lovely with the kids. She took time out of her busy schedule and stayed over two hours and worked with coaches from Valleys Gymnastics Academy.

“Board members came to visit us and were blown away by how Frankie worked and how modest she was about her achievements.”
