A BARMAN from Cwmbran aims to make it big in the acting world as he stars in tomorrow’s emotional episode of Casualty.

Josh Green, 23, from Henllys, will appear as John Collier, the teenage son of Jeff Collier - the hero paramedic who died in last week’s episode of the BBC one programme.

The episode, titled ‘The Last Call’, is the former Fairwater High School pupil’s second appearance in the long running show after he first appeared as an extra.

He said: “It was an incredible experience working opposite really great actors. I’ve watched the show for years - I knew what was going to happen to Matt Bardock’s character in last week’s episode but it was still emotional watching Jeff.

“It was a big emotional scene that I was part of as it was the funeral. There was a lot of crying and I had to carry the coffin into the church.”

The actor is currently in the process of applying for drama school and said he would love to study at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art or the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

He said: “My drama teacher Gary Dann was a fantastic teacher and he really helped me build my confidence. After spending the last few years working I now feel ready to go to drama school after getting a little more life experience.”

The barman at the Dorallt Inn is now represented by Simon and How Associates, a talent agency based in London, and has previously appeared in the music videos of Ellie Goulding’s ‘Burn’, Dizzie Rascal’s ‘Bassline Junkie’ and Loveable Rogues’ ‘What a night.’

He said: “I’ve done a lot of music videos - it was amazing to be on location with some really big artists. I mostly feature in the Loveable Rogues video.

“It was so much fun but I’m now hoping to do more drama-based work.”

Mr Green will also be starring as private Jones in Jump School, a short film about a group of World War Two para troopers, which was filmed across Blaenavon and Pontypool. The film also stars Nico Dowsell, from Newport, and is scheduled for a release date next month.
