A PET owner has been ban-ned from keeping all animals for four years after inspectors found two dead dogs and an emaciated cat at her home.

Carolyn Mary Pritchard, aged 53, of Byron Place, St Dials, Cwmbran, appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court accused of cruelty to the three animals.

The court was told how Nicola Johnson, an RSPCA inspector, visited the property and found a terribly thin black and white cat and two dead dogs.

Inspector Johnson said: “It is one of the saddest things I have ever seen. The cat was the thinnest cat I have ever seen alive; she survived against all the odds.

“The two dogs were found decomposing on the floor. It was horrible and should never have happened.

“I’ve been to seen the cat in her new home and she is a completely different cat and loving life.”

Pritchard pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a brindle Staffordshire bull terrier and a black collie cross between February 1 and May 13 and also failing to meet the needs of the animals.

She also admitted causing unnecessary suffering to the cat by failing to address the causes of its weight loss to provide it with a suitable environment.

Magistrates ordered Prichard to pay £500 costs in addition to banning her from keeping animals until 2018.
