A BLAENAVON singer with hopes of a becoming a pop superstar will appear on The Voice.

Recording artist and model Cai Williams hopes to hit the right note on the prime BBC1 talent show on Saturday night.

The competition will press ahead with the fourth round of blind auditions and campaigns by coaches Tom Jones, Will.i.am, Ricky Wilson and Rita Ora to build a 12-strong team.

Mr Williams, a dental assistant-turned-entertainer has his own solo show called The Power Within, and has already recorded three albums.

He also has a passion for modelling and has appeared in catwalk shows and in fashion magazines.

He said yesterday he previously turned down opportunities to appear on talent shows like the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent but felt The Voice was different.

“They solely judge you on your voice, they don’t see you," the 34-year-old said.

“It’s something I definitely wanted to do.

“My voice is unique and powerful. I’ve got quite a big range.

“This audition is great. It gives great exposure and puts Blaenavon on the map.”

A spokeswoman for The Voice said: “Cai lives with his mother in their small hometown of Blaenavon where he is the big fish in a small pond and regularly performs.

“Cai would fall to the floor if the legend Tom Jones turned round for him. He’s performed at a lot of the same venues as Tom over the years and is often described as a younger version.

“Cai has a very strong image which he constantly reinvents as he loves to look different. He loves nothing more than taking a selfie and sharing it with his 3,000 Instagram followers.”

The Voice is on BBC1 at 7pm.
