A PEDESTRIAN has died after being struck by a car in Llanfrechfa, Cwmbran.
Police said the incident happened at 2.24pm today on Ponthir Road, where a car collided with a 74-year-old man.
The pensioner was treated for injuries at the scene and taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, where he died later.
Gwent Police are investigating. They say the car stopped at the scene.
Specialist officers are assisting relatives at this difficult time, police said.
The female driver of the car was uninjured.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service from Cwmbran and New Inn also attended.
The road has now re-opened.
