PONTYPOOL museum has announced a lively schedule over the coming weeks to attract more people inside.

St David's Day themed art and craft activities for children of all ages will be held while two free workshops in conjunction with Communities 2.0 will also take place in March.

The workshops are to help voluntary and community organisations in the Pontypool area make the most of social media.

The invitation is open to all voluntary organisations operating in the wards of Pontypool Community Council.

The workshops will include guidance on how best to engage with online audiences, how to build interest in your social media activity and how such platforms can be used to raise funds for voluntary organisations.

These introductory sessions will take place at the museum on Saturday, March 7, from 2pm to 5pm and Saturday, March 14, from 2pm to 5pm.

No previous experience is necessary. Places are limited so book your session by calling 01495 752036 or email pontypoolmuseum@hotmail.com On Saturday, February 7, members of Torfaen Museum Trust were invited to the launch of Pontypool Museum’s latest art exhibition, Figure Four.

It features the work of talented local artists Kay Lawrence, Tony Tribe, Mary James and Louella Gwillim. The launch was a great success with well over 100 people in attendance. The exhibition is on display in Pontypool Museum’s Barker Gallery until October 25.

By becoming a member of Torfaen Museum Trust, you will receive invites to private viewings and special events, as well as other benefits.

Annual membership costs £15 for individuals, £20 for families and £60 for businesses.

Members enjoy free access to all exhibitions, along with 10 per cent discount on selected items within the museum’s shop.

Membership helps the museum continue to carry out its good work. Over the past year, Torfaen Museum Trust, the registered charity that runs Pontypool Museum, has been working hard to mitigate a £19,000 budget shortfall.
