GWENT Police is appealing for information following a theft of a bank card from a woman's handbag in Cwmbran.

The theft occurred sometime between 3.35pm and 4pm on February 23 in Asda car park, Cwmbran.

After putting her shopping in her car, a lady was approached by a man who spoke in a foreign accent and asked for directions and then walked away.

The lady later discovered that her bank card had been stolen from her handbag which was in the car.

Police believe that whilst distracted, a second person entered the lady's vehicle to carry out the theft.

The bank card was later used to purchase goods totalling over £900.

The man who spoke to the lady is described as being of smart appearance, 5'9" to 5'10" tall and of medium build.

He was wearing a dark coloured coat and dark sunglasses.
