A CWMBRAN woman with a weight loss success story is hoping to inspire others through starting her own slimming world group

Angela Hillier, 39, has lost three and half stone in ten months with Slimming World, and now hopes to inspire others to do the same through launching her own slimming world group in Pontnewynydd.

Miss Hillier who is a busy mother to two and grandmother to one is eager to share her journey with others and says she wants others to benefit in the same way that she has.

Going from 13st 9lbs to 10st 3lbs has meant that Miss Hillier no longer suffers with irritable bowel syndrome since losing the weight.

She said: “The weight loss means I feel empowered and it makes you feel good about yourself.”

Before losing the weight, Miss Hillier admitted that she had problems with her knees and struggled to exercise. Yet, now she leads an energetic lifestyle where she is able to participate in zumba twice a week, walks regularly and also enjoys swimming.

After becoming a nan at 37, Miss Hillier was conscious that she needed to lose weight in order to be able to play with her granddaughter with ease.

A carer for those with disabilities, Miss Hillier takes those she cares for to do things such as swimming to provide respite for the families. With her having to get into the pool in order to ensure their safety, she said: “If I was heavier, I would find it difficult.”

Miss Hillier is keen to emphasize that crash dieting and slimming pills are not the right choice for those who are trying to lose weight.

For losing weight and maintaining it, she believes that Slimming World is appropriate for the long-term.

She said that her favourite meals are spaghetti bolognaise, chips, cod and mushy peas and chicken curry with rice and banana cake for dessert.

Miss Hillier said: “With Slimming World you don’t have to cut back, you can eat what you want and it fits in with everyone’s lifestyle and it’s suitable for busy people.”

Miss Hillier plans to launch her own slimming world group on April 29 at 6.30pm in Zion Hill Community Hall, Pontnewynydd.
