PUPILS from Abersychan School have been working with a local tattoo artist to create a new sign for the inclusion base at the site.

The inclusion base provides support to pupils on a daily basis, providing individual programmes of learning, working one to one and small group work.

Pupil's Kirstin Probhert, 13, Bradley Harding, 13, Callum House, 14 and Cole Wathen, 14, worked with tattoo artist Rob Taylor, a former employee of Abersychan School, to create a new modern sign for the base. They got together every Monday for six weeks developing their ideas and designs, eventually finalising a design they were all happy with.

The primary focus of Inclusion Support is to help pupils improve their emotional well-being, make better choices regarding their behaviour, develop better coping strategies, improve attendance and encourage re-engagement in learning.

The Inclusion department is part of the whole school's drive to develop confident and mature individuals and aims to provide a welcoming and friendly area for all those pupils.

Rob Barrowdale, inclusion manager, said: "The pupils have worked really hard over the past weeks and have done a terrific job on the new sign which the Inclusion team are very grateful for.

"I’d like to thank Rob for agreeing to get involved in helping out with the design which I know the pupils have really enjoyed doing."
