A CLASSIC vehicle show held in Pontypool raised more than £1,500 for St David’s Hospice Care on Sunday.

Vehicles spanning the 1920s to the late 1980s were on display at Panteg House in Griffithstown.

There were 90 exhibits in total, including vintage cars, buses, motorcycles and some military vehicles.

Building on the success of last year’s event, which raised £1,500, local classic vehicle enthusiasts Jim Rees and Paul Schanzer were delighted with the final total of £1,750.

Mr Schanzer said: "We took on running the classic and vintage car show at Panteg House last year and it was a great success.

“This year we’ve managed to go even better with our fundraising. Altogether we hosted some ninety exhibits, which all have been enjoyed by visitors to the show."

Kris Broome, of St David’s Hospice Care, said: “It was a wonderful day staged in blistering sunshine in the marvellous setting of Panteg House.

“We are very grateful to Jim, Paul and everyone else who worked so hard to ensure the success of the event and to help raise the marvellous amount of money, £1,750, which will help us to carry on the work that we do throughout the community.”
