THE family of a boy with a life-limiting condition have been forced to postpone a Legoland trip after he had to got to hospital for tests.

Ellis Smith, seven, was due to spend three days at the theme park this week after his great uncle Les Watkins raised more than £1,000 this summer.

The wheelchair user has a condition called neurofibromatosis, which has seen inoperable tumours grow in different parts of his body.

Ellis had to go to the Heath Hospital in Cardiff for tests to determine if he has a growth in his kidney at the weekend.

He stayed in hospital for 24 hours and his family are now awaiting test results.

Following our coverage last week, the HCPT charity also offered to take Ellis to Lourdes in South West France where miracles are said to have been performed.

But his family have had to turn down the offer as Ellis cannot fly.

His father Neil Smith, 36, of St Dials, said: "Whilst this is indeed a very kind offer, Ellis is unable to travel abroad.

"He cannot fly, and long distances by car or train are not really suitable for him. Please pass on our thanks to the charity."
