A CWMBRAN man will set up a new internet radio station and give others opportunities to get involved with improving their photography skills after he won funding.

Dan Williams, 18, said he is looking for the new Vitalize UK project to launch its station in April after it was awarded £5,000 by the Big Lottery Fund.

He first got involved with internet radio stations in 2011 when he started helping out at Newport City Radio and said he was keen for similar opportunities to be extended to people from Torfaen.

The former Llantarnam School pupils said: “It has not always been straightforward but with the backing of the lottery it has given me the opportunity to create my own radio station.

“I progressed through various stages there where I was behind the scenes and on production and then I went onto my own show. I have gone through the various roles where I have learned enough about them that I can pass them onto others.”

He added: “I think it could be a real success and help to give Cwmbran the voice that it’s been missing for a long time. With the support from The Big Lottery Fund, it is now possible to offer a range of opportunities across Torfaen for all to enjoy.”
