FUNDRAISING events for a Cwmbran animal shelter and charity have provided much needed support for the organisation’s future, says the business development manager.

Last month, the Argus reported that All Creatures Great and Small feared that it had just three months left, unless it could secure urgent financial aid.

Matt Nicholls said that the situation is looking more positive, but the employees of the charity are aware that they cannot rest on their laurels.

He said: “It is looking a bit more positive than it was a few weeks ago certainly. We have received a number of donations from members of the public and we have been contacted by a number of individuals who have offered to help.”

“The fundraising is continuing to improve our situation although we are not out of the woods yet by any stretch of the imagination.”

The charity has organised its own fundraising events, while members of the community have rallied round to support All Creatures Great and Small in their hour of need.

Mr Nicholls said: “It has been wonderful to see people offering to do fundraising events for us. We have had one or two people offering to take part in sky dives to help the shelter.

“In addition to the fundraising, both those organised by ourselves and people outside of the charity, we have seen a noticeable interest in our centre. We have been able to host a large number of cats, dogs and other animals.”

The amount of money raised so far from the fundraising is yet to be officially totalled, but the charity is continuing to plan events.

Mr Nicholls added: “This has allowed us to take in more animals even at this difficult time, with the hope of having those animals rehomed too.

“The fundraising exploits are set to continue. We have a jumble sale planned as well as rehoming events and afternoon tea sessions.

“These are set to take place over the forthcoming weeks so it will be a matter of ‘watch this space’ to find out what is happening and when,” he said.

The charity has launched its own appeal and to donate to this, visit justgiving.com/donation/direct?process=1&queryId=YwBoAGEAcgBpAHQAeQA9ADEAOQAwADMAMwA3AA or text SOSA74270070, followed by the donation amount.

The charity is also accepting donations by cheque, while information about the standing order forms for the £1.25 donations can be found at allcreaturesgreatandsmall.org.uk.
