FRIARS Walk flagship store and a Cwmbran fundraising couple are teaming up to help raise money for Carolyn Davies in her battle against breast cancer.

Debenhams will be running a fashion show for three days at the end of April, with proceeds from the events going towards the Cwmbran mother-of-two.

Deri and Michelle Groves, who have raised close to £10,000 for Mrs Davies in just six months and are planning to recommence their fundraising exploits once again.

“We are thankful for Debenhams for arranging this event for Carolyn,” said Mr Groves, of Grayson Way, Llantarnam.

“Carolyn is doing well and the tumours and disease have shrunk in her body. But it’s a question of whether she can get the drug treatments that she needs to prolong her life.”

The Cwmbran couple have arranged the event with Debenhams, which will offer three days of fundraising fashion from Thursday, April 28 to Saturday, April 30.

Christine Stockford, who works for Debenhams and has organised the event with the husband and wife team, said: “We will be setting up stations throughout our cosmetics department for services that the customer can have for a contribution.

“For example, we will be offering colour matching for foundation, lip makeovers, eye makeovers and a host of other treats from 11am to 4pm.

“For the final two days, the Friday and Saturday, we have a gentleman offering a dry hair up service, so that the customer can try out a new look,” she added.

Mr and Mrs Groves are continuing as well with their fundraising, and hope to raise £10,000 for Mrs Davies this year alone.

Mr Groves said: “The fundraising is starting to move forward and it is going well. We have already received a couple of donations.

“Our plans remains to do the skydive in the summer but before then, we are looking to do raffles, bag packs and a fundraising party like last year.

“What would be great, however, is if when the Assembly elections come, whoever ends up in charge at the end of it is able to secure the drug that Carolyn needs to continue,” he added.
