TWENTY Torfaen work colleagues took part in Cardiff’s charity Gauntlet Games over the weekend.

From teetering over see-saws to swinging on Tarzan ropes, all of the workers from housing company Melin Homes completed the obstacle course.

The event contains both 5km and 10km races and raises money for The Kidney Wales Foundation.

Program manager Paul Wyatt, 37, said: “It was amazing how much I enjoyed it. The most fun was definitely the foam but I felt so relieved as I crossed the finish line.

“I have never done anything other than a normal 10km run before so it was a bit in the unknown. You cannot train for wading through the mud and water as well as fighting the gladiators, I will be telling anyone to give it a go and hopefully we will be doing a few more."

Previously a number of Melin Homes staff have competed in the Pontypool Race for Life together.

Mike Watkins, who acted as group organiser, said: “It was an amazing effort by all of us. Every single one of the team got around and managed to come through it without any injuries. Some of the obstacles were harder then we thought especially the monkey bars and the gladiators were tough. "
