SNOW covered the tips of the Eastern Valleys this morning, with more bad weather expected across the weekend.
Higher points of the region were given a wintry white layer, leading the Met Office to issue a yellow level warning across Gwent.
It also confirmed the warning would extend into late morning tomorrow, with scattered showers and a likelihood of worsening and windy weather until early afternoon.
Areas with high-altitude, including the Blorenge or the Wye Valley, are a high risk of hail stones, ice and snow.
Snow of one to three centimetres may accumulate on hills above 200 metres, it was added, with more than five centimetres above 400 meters. Some of the heaviest showers could produce slushy conditions even at low levels, creating the possibility of tricky travel conditions.
A Met Office spokesman said: “ Forecasts show similar weather expected from Saturday evening until Sunday morning.
"But it should be moving away by lunchtime on Sunday, when the weather should brighten up.”
