The A4042 is closed after a pedestrian hit by vehicle this evening
A FEMALE pedestrian was rushed to the Royal Gwent Hospital this evening after being hit by a car.
The collision took place just after 5pm near Pontypool and has led to an evening of congestion northbound in the area around the A4042.
Gwent Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service arrived at the scene between McDonalds Roundabout and Court Farm on the A4042 at 5.15pm with the woman sustaining serious injuries.
The driver of the Honda Civic is currently helping police with their enquires.
The road remains closed at this time and officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision to call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log number 408.
Traffic is also being affecting the A4051 as well as at New Inn Roundabout.
