THE owners of four dogs, which an RSPCA inspector described as "the thinnest" ever seen, have been banned from keeping dogs.

35-year-old Graham Hoy and 26-year-old Elisa Vaux, of Coed Eva in Cwmbran, both pleaded guilty to two offences at Cwmbran Magistrates Court on January 9, in a case concerning four husky dogs.

The pair were ordered to both pay £360 in defendant costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

They were also sentenced to a 12 month community order of 100 hours unpaid work was also handed out to the pair.

Previously in September, RSPCA inspector Sophie Daniels found four huskies - called Cloud, Diesel, Delta and Asher - at a property, with the dogs appearing in an emaciated state, with bones visible through their coats.

The couple will also have a fifth dog confiscated.

Sophie Daniels, a RSPCA inspector, said: "These were the thinnest husky dogs I'd ever seen. It's hard to imagine what these dogs had been through to reach this condition, particularly for dogs of this breed."

"Fortunately, the condition of those dogs signed-over to the RSPCA improved dramatically, solely through the provision of good food and proper care."

"This case clearly highlights the consequences when people fail to meet their legal responsibilities to their pets - but, thankfully, we were able to identify the dogs when we did."
