A SUPERMARKET discounter has announced plans to set up a store on the edge of Pontypool and has submitted a pre-planning application to the town’s community council.
German chain Aldi hope to develop a branch on the Skewfields site, close to the roundabout that connects the A4042 and the A472.
The supermarket has provided a pre-planning application to the Pontypool council, before submitting a plan to Torfaen County Borough Council.
Plans in the pre-planning application include the building of a food store with associated access, car parking and landscaping of the site and a provision to replace a car park.
The pre-planning application will be presented to community councillors at the planning meeting today.
