A RAPPER from Cwmbran has released a new music video aimed at helping young people realise their dreams.

Shane Ford, also known as Pridez, says his new track, Wake Up Call, is partly based on his former self.

“There are a lot of people out there with no goals or dreams to follow, people who would rather get wrecked and waste their life away,” said Mr Ford, 29, of Fairwater.

“I used to be that person, then I finally woke up.

“The track is to advice the youth of today that you can be anything you want.

“If you spend your time wisely and concentrate on your objectives you will reach your goal.”

The track, available on YouTube, has been viewed more than 500 times since its release on Friday, May 5.

It follows on from the success of Mr Ford’s track Believe in Love, which became an internet hit with more than 13,000 views and 161 likes in three days in March.

Speaking to the Free Press at the time he said: “A lot of people have said they can relate to the lyrics and understand the message.

“When I wrote it I knew there was something special about it but the response has exceeded expectations.”

Mr Ford has previously written music influenced by his time being homeless and is hoping his latest release can offer hope to people who may be going through difficult times.

The rapper, who also works as a shop fitter, cites Snoop Dog and Eminem as some of his biggest influences.
