A FORMER Miss Wales will be travelling to London today to deliver hundreds of items to the victims of the Grenfell Tower blaze.

Shortly after the devastating blaze which has claimed the lives of at least 30 people, Chloe-Beth Morgan, of Cwmbran, took to social media to ask for donations of clothes, non-perishable food and toiletries to help the relief effort.

She said: “When I saw the news breaking I sat and there were tears falling down my face. It could happen to any of us. I had to do something.

“Recently there have been a lot of awful things happening. I can’t even comprehend it. I hope that the people in London know that people care and want to help. I’m sure they feel very alone and a small gesture can make a difference”.

The 30-year-old appealed for someone to donate the use of a van to hold the items, through the South Wales Argus website, and Cwmbran-based firm Avondale Car Hire stepped forward to offer their services.

A spokesman from the company said: “With what has happened in London and the suffering that has come with it, providing a van for charitable donations is the least that we can do.”

Miss Morgan will travel down to London in the early hours of this morning to take the goods to relief centres around the immediate area of the fire.
