BUSINESSES in Torfaen were put in the spotlight at an industry event over the weekend.
This year, the Monmouthshire Business Awards (MBA) expanded to cover ‘Old Monmouthshire’ – towns and cities that were part of the county prior to 1965.
The contest fielded entries from Monmouthshire, Newport, Caerleon, Cwmbran, Ebbw Vale, Usk and Caerphilly with winners announced on October 6.
Three Torfaen businesses took home awards in various categories.
Michael McLeod, of Uni Green Scheme from Mamhilad, received the Young Entrepreneur Award while Blaenafon Cheddar Company took home a gong for ‘Excellence in Small Food and Drink Producers”.
The award was collected by the food firm’s production manager, Terence Hill.
A third win in the ‘Excellence in Innovation’ category went to Capital Valley Plastics, of Cwmavon.
The awards included a presentation evening and gala dinner at the Celtic Manor Resort resort in Newport and other categories ranged from ‘Company of the Year’ to ‘Excellence in Manufacturing’
