GWENT Police are appealing for information after a quantity of lead was removed from the roof of the old Blaenavon library in Lion Street.
The incident occurred at some time overnight between Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, October 8 although officers are not sure about the identity of the person or persons responsible.
The library was deemed surplus to requirements in March 2015, following the decision to relocate the library into the World Heritage Centre.
The decision to relocate the library into the World Heritage Centre was part of the council’s budget saving methods for 2015/2016, approved by Torfaen’s cabinet on March 24 in 2015.
Anyone with information or has CCTV footage of Lion Street is asked to contact the police on 101, quoting log reference 1700391619 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
