A SHOWCASE of Torfaen business achievement and Welsh culture was presented in a recent visit by a USA ambassador.

Woody Johnson was appointed to be the USA’s ambassador to the UK last year and his role involves forging links between the two nations.

To mark St David’s Day, the ambassador visited Frog Bikes in Mamhilad Park Estate, Pontypool, to see how the firm makes the lightweight childrens’ bikes it sells in the US and chatted to people who work on the assembly line.

Following this visit, the ambassador made a stop at Pontypool Indoor Market to chat to traders and learn more about Welsh culture.

The ambassador was joined by Torfaen County Borough Council’s business, culture and leisure head, Alan Jones , council leader Anthony Hunt and Torfaen MP Nick Thomas-Symonds during both visits.

Mr Thomas-Symonds said: “It was great to have the chance to speak to the ambassador about the talents of our people, and to show him some of our great local businesses.”
