TWO new faces have taken over as the church leaders, or corps officers, of the Salvation Army, switching Penarth for Pontypool.

Captains Andrew and Lorraine Warriner, originally from Doncaster, Yorkshire, started their new role at the end of February.

As well as previously running the Salvation Army hall in Penarth, the couple are keep fit fans who enjoy walking, going to the theatre and eating out.

Both are looking forward to getting to know the people of Pontypool and finding out about ways they can support the local community.

Mrs Warriner said: “We are both excited to be taking up our new positions; to going out and getting to know the people of Pontypool; to becoming part of that community and serving it in the best way we can.

“The Salvation Army is an international Christian Church and charity dedicated to caring for people who are vulnerable or in need in every community. The Salvation Army in Pontypool is no different, and we are here when you need us, offering compassionate support and practical help.”

Located on Town Bridge in Pontypool, the Salvation Army hall offers a range of services for people of all ages throughout the week and weekend.

Pontypool’s Salvation Army hall is on Town Bridge and on Sundays there is family worship, a coffee and tea fellowship and praise and testimony session.

During the week, there is Project Teen – a programme for young parents and parents-to–be; ‘Come and meet each other’; Bible study; drop-in sessions and more.
