FIRE ripped through a commercial unit in Pontypool last on Friday night.

The fire in Clarence Road started at around 11am and took a number of firefighters to bring the flames under control.

A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "It stated in a shed and spread to an external area with some motor vehicles."

She added there had been some smoke damage to the shed.

It is also believed a number of vehicles were damaged in the fire.

The spokeswoman added added: "We reinspected at 8.30am this morning and the incident is now closed."

It is believed no one was hurt, but it is not known whether or not the fire is being treated as arson.
