AFTER the efforts of last weekend, I have to say I was left feeling hugely privileged and proud.

From the back room staff and coaches to make the journey, accommodation and planning ran so smoothly, putting us players in the best physical and mental condition possible. This was so crucial to our performance. A massive thanks goes to them.

Most pleasing was the way in which the boys responded from last week’s slightly disappointing result. I mentioned in last week's column that we must now challenge ourselves week in week out regardless of the opposition if we are to improve and become a top team. It is safe to say the gargantuan effort the boys produced on Saturday was one that, as is the recurring theme this week, left me feeling truly proud.

RGC were an extremely fit and well-organised team who tested us with seemingly limitless amounts of stamina and speed. This weekend’s encounter with our Gwent neighbors will test us in ways only the very top teams will.

However, we are focusing on producing another performance to the very best of our abilities. If we are able to do this then, not only will we be satisfied, you never know what the outcome may be on the day. We certainly aren’t writing ourselves off that’s for sure.

It hardly needs mentioning that the crowd’s support will be huge this week, as Ebbw Vale will bring a strong traveling crowd. I’d like to think we can better their numbers and their volume!!

Lastly, a huge thanks to the fans that made the long arduous journey up north last week – a fantastic effort that was much appreciated.
