WHAT a week for Gwent Central’s unbeaten teams that both lost their unbeaten records with the first Division Crickhowell losing at home to Blaenavon Blues 2-1.

Scorer for Blaenavon was a brace for Darren Harris and for Crickhowell Alex Aitken.

Crickhowell remain on top and Blaenavon are second on goals scored.

Penygarn and Trevethin stay third with a game in hand over the top two thanks to a comfortable win over Clydach wasps, Clydach dropped to ninth .

Fourth club Usk Town had a convincing 7-0 home win against Mardy, Mardy are tenth.

Gilwern and District entertained Cwmffrwdoer at the Recreation Ground and both teams produced a good hard game of football with Gilwern finishing on top with a close 5-3 score-line.

Cwmffrwdoer scorers were David Greenhalgh with two and one for Daley Witcombe.

Gilwern are fifth and Cwmffrwdoer seventh.

The final game in Division One was between Llanfoist and Tranch which ended in a comfortable home win for Llanfoist who stay sixth in the league, Tranch remain bottom.

The shock of the day was in Division Two top club Prescoed played ninth club New Inn and the visitors came away with a 4-3 win due mainly to their defence whatever Prescoed threw at them they dealt with and celebrated a notable win.

New Inn ‘s goals were scored by Aaron Crimmings 2 and one each for Darryl Nightingale and Oliver Durso.

Prescoed stay top and New Inn stay ninth.

Second team Penygarn and Trevethin had no game so it was a chance for lower teams to go ahead of them and fourth club took advantage and moved into second with a 2-1 home win against third club Crickhowell. Sebastopol goals went to Ken Lewis and Craig Leyton Crickhowell’s goalscorer was Alun Jones, Crickhowell drop to fourth.

Blaenavon Blues B moved up to fifth thanks to their 6-3 home win against Usk Town B

Blaenavon goal came from a hat trick for Lee Freeman and one each for Glen Harvey, Joe Prince and Malcolm Radcliffe. Usk Town are fifth.

Gilwern and District B registered their first win of the season and lifted them off the bottom to tenth. They won their away game against Bailey Rangers 3-2. Bailey Rangers goals came courtesy of Shannon Heywood and Sean Cheal, Bailey Rangers drop to eighth.

The final game saw Race drop back down to the bottom after losing to Abergavenny Town

8-0 goals came from Tom Jenkins with four and one apiece for Ieaun Evans, George Clarke, Matthew Herritage and Jake Heckles.

Abergavenny Town move up to seventh.
