RUNNING sensation Isobel Parry-Jones set two new records at the under 17 Welsh Indoor Championships at the weekend.

The 800m champion from Cwmbran beat Jade Williams’ Championship best in the under 17 1,500m final in 4 minutes and 36 seconds on Saturday.

Williams had completed the 1,500 run in a record four minutes and 39 seconds in 2009.

Parry-Jones, of Cwmbran Harriers Athletics Club, also beat the record set by Lauren Bell in the 800m in 2010 by completing the run in two minutes and 11 seconds in Cardiff on Sunday.

Bell’s record was two minutes and 14 seconds.

A spokesman for Welsh Athletics said that Parry-Jones was the Welsh under 17 800m champion last year and has retained her title.

She won a gold medal at the Indoor Regional (East Wales) and Welsh Championships at the National Indoor Arena in Cardiff in March 2014.

She had also won the 800m at the Welsh Athletics 2014 Indoor Track & Field Championships in January last year in two minutes and 18 seconds.
