Wainfelin Bluebirds 3

Tranch 0

WAINFELIN Bluebirds were flying high after their victory in their Gwent County League Division Three derby league match against Tranch.

The home side were up against it with a few strong players missing from their usual line-up. The first-half was, nevertheless, an evenly balanced encounter with Tranch matching the visitors despite going down by a goal to a superb strike from Daniel Lewis, the Bluebirds’

player-manager.

His shot, just out of reach of goalkeeper Sean Watkins, gave Bluebirds a 1-0 lead early-on.

In the second-half it remained fairly evenly matched, but the Bluebirds took their opportunities better. Their second goal coming from a powerful shot from Sam Davies.

Tranch tried to formulate a reply, but they were to go another goal down when Daniel Lewis scored his second of the match and sealed the victory for the Bluebirds.

The previous weekend had seen Bluebirds beat league leaders, Cwm.

With them following this up with this victory over Tranch, the Bluebirds, who have four matches in hand, will be hoping to continue their winning run.
