PONT-Y-PWL and District Runners dominated the top three in both the men’s and women’s parkrun on Valentine’s Day in Pontypool.

In the men’s, Andy Lee took first place with a time of 18 minutes and 55 seconds, Andrews Dickens came second with 19 minutes and 34 seconds and James Day clocked a personal best with 19 minutes and 45 seconds.

Runner Tim Barrett came fourth on just his fifth parkrun with a time of 19 minutes 52 seconds, also a personal best.

Coming in fifth was Paul Chick, of the Lliswerry Runners, with 20 minutes 33 seconds.

The Valentine’s Day event saw 99 runners of all ages and abilities take part.

In the women’s race, three members of the Pont-y-pwl and District Runners also topped the tables.

Lou Summers came first with 20 minutes and 51 seconds, Holly Janes-Thomas came second with 22 minutes and 14 seconds and Linda Thomas came third with 23 minutes and 19 seconds.

Ms Summers came 7th overall in the parkrun.

The Pontypool parkrun, a 5km course, takes place each Saturday at 9am at Pontypool Park.
