PONTYPOOL trampolinists had another great day at the Welsh Trampoline Grades Competition.

The competition is open to clubs across Wales, and the members of Usk Valley Trampoline Club did themselves proud with medals and trophies galore.

The club gained no less than seven new champions at Monmouthshire Leisure Centre on March 1.

They all won their individual age and ability groups: Milly Morgan Reg 1 Under 15, Ellie James Reg 2 Under 11, Sophie Wilson Reg 3 Under 13, Leah Hussey Reg 3 Under 15, Michael Trott Reg 3 Over 15, Ffion Rixon NDP 1 Under 11, and Bethan Duckett NDP 13+.

The club then followed this up with four individual second places with Ethan Burgess Reg 1 Under 11, Mackenzie Harris Reg 2 Under 13, Elise Jenkins Reg 2 Under 15, and Amy-Rose Shutt NDP 1 Under 13.

Six club members came third. These were Eleri Davies Reg 1 Under 11, Jessica Parry Reg 1 Under 13, Caitlin Jones Reg 1 Under 15, Charlotte Jones Reg 2 Under 15, Chloe James Reg 3 Under15, and Reece Williams NDP 1 Under 13.

The under 15 Girls Team Reg 1 of Milly Morgan, Ellys Perry, Madeleine Ross and Caitlin Jones picked up the gold medal, as did the under 15 team Reg 3 of Mikaela Price, Chloe James and Leah Hussey.

In the synchronised trampolining event, the under 15 pair of Sophie Wilson and Leah Hussey were the winners, with Chloe James and Mikaela Price coming in third place.

In the over 15 section, Bethan Duckett and Bethan Evans came third.

The highest club score of the day was Bethan Duckett with an excellent 49.1.

Senior club coach and judge Barbara Digby North was very pleased with so many trophy and medal winners and said it reflected the hard work of the members, many of whom had only gone up a grade three weeks ago. Many of the other competitors achieved good placings and scores also.

Usk Valley Trampoline Club is a registered British Gymnastics club and takes all children whether for fun and fitness or to do awards and compete. Sessions take place at Pontypool Active Living Centre on Saturdays.
