Pontypool Schools U11s 59 Islwyn Schools 10

PONTYPOOL took on Islwyn Schools in their first floodlit game of the season at Blaenavon Rugby Club.

The Pooler team was on top form with their front row of Joseff Cowell Ben Moa and Ben Jones causing the Islwyn boys numerous problems with their powerful running.

Flankers Harry Bendon and Brennon Gaite covered every inch of the ground and won numerous turn overÕs on the ground. Captain Joseff Cowell, Harry Bendon crossed for a try apiece prop with Ben Jones rumbling in for a brace.

The Pooler backs were not to be outdone with man of the match Joel Doughty touching down for a try and also kicking seven conversions. Centres Will Reed and Morgan Spence both had excellent games with Will crossing for one try and Morgan showing blistering pace to touch down twice.

Wing Ryan Lewis was another to have a good game pulling off some fine tackles in defence as well as showing a clean pair of heels to cross for an excellent try.

The Islwyn boys had no answer to the powerful Pooler team who stretched their unbeaten record to six games to make the final score 59 points to 10 in their favour. The Pooler boys would like to pay a big thank you to the chairman of Bleananvon RFC Mr Alan Jones for all his support in helping to arrange this fixture.
