U7s RUGBY: Cwmbran 13 tries Forgeside 17 tries

Forgeside U7s travelled down the Eastern Valley on Sunday to play Cwmbran U7s and returned home happy following a win after a close encounter with their near rivals.

It was the home side which was quickest out of the blocks as they scored an interception try within second of the kick-off. However Forgeside quickly responded with a try of their own scored by Captain for the day Arron Turner.

This was a feature of the game as Cwmbran again took the lead only for the visitors to get their second of the game from Harrison Reed. He scored his first try for the club along with putting in his best display of the season to date and earning himself the most improved player award.

The Black and Ambers then started to find their feet and tries were scored by Callum Kenvin who bagged himself four tries for the morning with some good side stepping and silky running, however he was not to be outdone by his sister Dione Kenvin who was excellent in both attack scoring herself a cracker of a try and then putting in some excellent tagging, which earned herself the player of the match award.

There were also some good all round performances by Demi Jenkins, Alfie McCann and Will Marshall who are making improvements week after week.

Cwmbran were not be out done in all of this and continued to test the Forgeside defence, scoring some tries of their own, however the Forgeside defence held well for good parts of the game. Riley Coslett again showed good hands with some good passing and Cai Teale once again scored a neat try as he outpaced the home sides defence.

Cian Pearce had his best game for the team as he had several good runs which resulted in him scoring a good try. Another player to get their name on the scoresheet was Evan Weeks as once again he showed that he has good pace as he outsprinted the opposition.

Finally Ieuan Rowlands again showed skills that are beyond his years as he gave the Cwmbran defence the run around all game showing some excellent skills and scoring seven tries in the process.
