Spirited drive by Abergavenny father and son rally crew

FATHER and son rally crew Brian and Ian Davis, from Abergavenny, brought home their Ford Escort Mk 2, after a spirited drive, to finish 16th overall and sixth in class on the K & R Mitsubishi Stages Rally last weekend.

Held over two days near Brean Sands, Somerset, the event has become very popular in the rallying calendar, organised by Club RallySport West over six special Tarmac stages.

Weather varied from bright sunshine to torrential rain, so tyre choices became crucial. Brian admitted to being caught out with the wrong tyres for some stages, especially when the heavens opened on stage 11 when they were on slicks.

A fine 16th place out of 85 cars starting has encouraged Brian to enter more events especially as his Ford Escort Mk 2 ran faultlessly.
