Debutant George Harding had a fine game and it was great to see scrum half Jay Dalton back in good form after his lay-off. Brett Parker’s backs were excellent and winger Ben Sullivan chipped forward, allowing the Tigers to enjoy a sustained period just short of the line.

Pencoed endured 10 minutes camped on their line, refusing to allow the battering rams of Sullivan and Ethan Harris to cross.

A number of scrums and penalties were absorbed before the raw aggression of Scott Williams took him over for the first score.

Match Captain Tyler Lewis converted superbly. Half Time 7-0.

Sullivan came to the flank and with more ball went in from 25 metres for the second.

The catalyst for this was a strong Dafydd Green run, supported by Duan Thomas and Joel Witcombe. Euan Lewis acted as scrum-half.

Witcombe made the big conversion.

Liam McCann caught the kick-off and sprinted 25 metres to feed Thomas.

Thomas passed to Green then Harris, who was brought down just short.

Harris popped to Euan who was tackled but rolled over to score.

Brilliant running by Williams, Witcombe and McCann got the ball to Thomas who chipped then dribbled over the line for a certain try.

The over-eager tackler was superb apart from the fact that Thomas didn’t have the ball and the penalty try had to be awarded.

Euan quickly took the penalty and clawed his way over. Lazy tackling saw Pencoed get a consolation.
