RALLY driver Sean Edwards from Pontypool won class B10 and was 36th overall out of one hundred and fifty starters on the GMF Wyedean Rally last Saturday.

Co driven by Gavin Haycock the crew brought their RallyWeld backed Ford Escort Mk 2 ninety seconds ahead of their nearest class rival.

The GMF Wyedean rally organised by The Forest of Dean Motor Club and sponsored by locally based motor factors GMF, was the first round of the REIS Get Connected BTRDA Rally gravel series.

Based on Chepstow Racecourse with the start ramp in Coleford, the Wyedean proved its popularity by attracting a nearly full entry, a great achievement in todays economic climate which has affected motorsport heavily.

Spectators were well catered for with seven stages in the Forest of Dean with all charges made for the car parking going to local good causes. Best local result was Bob Morgan and Adie Williams in a Subaru Impreza who were 9th overall and second in class B2.

The Wyedean was won by Connor McCloskey and Francis Regan from Northern Ireland in a Subaru Impreza WRC S9. They won the rally with a blinding time on the last stage Speech House to take overall victory by seven second.
