NEWPORT Gwent Dragons intend to use the pain of having their “backsides kicked” by Glasgow as motivation to extend their winning streak at Rodney Parade this evening.

The Dragons suffered a humbling 37-6 RaboDirect Pro12 defeat at Scotstoun Stadium in November.

It was a crushing five-tries-to-none loss and a shambolic performance – something the players have frequently been reminded about this week ahead of the clash with the high-flying Warr-iors.

“We had our backsides kicked in Glasgow and we have talked about that throughout our build-up,” said forwards coach Rob Appleyard.

“They were really ferocious and played with an incredible tempo and attacking intent.

“Unfortunately that shocked us and the result was painful.

“We capitulated up there but this time it has to be us that bring the fire and grab the game.

“They have had a tough turnaround after playing Zebre on Sunday and then facing another away trip but that’s only an opportunity for us if we hit them hard early on.

“We have got to start with a massive physical edge, intensity, accuracy and to make sure they have no reason to think they are going to win and every reason to think it’s not their day.”

The Dragons are looking for their fourth victory on the spin after downing the Ospreys, London Welsh and Italian outfit Treviso.

It is almost two years since they have achieved such a winning streak.
