Cwmffrwdoer 8 Cefn Fforest 2
GWENT County Division Two side Cwmffrwdoer Sports got back to league duties with a resounding 8-2 victory over Cefn Fforest.
In recent weeks Fforest have put in some decent away performances but on the day they were no match for the Doer, for whom recent signing Dwain Hunt was making his debut.
From the first whistle the pace of the Doer attack, with Hunt playing alongside Ben Taylor, was too much for the Fforest defence.
After 15 minutes and totally against the run of play it was the visitors who took the lead with a well executed goal.
Soon after the Doer equalised from a header by Taylor.
This was soon followed by an excellent individual goal from skipper Matthew Jackson.
It was Hunt who then picked up the mantle and displayed why he has to be one of the best strikers in the Gwent County League, with four goals in the first half, all of which he finished in style, leaving the Forest back four and their ’keeper wondering what had hit them.
Turning around 6-1 at half time the game was over and with the Doer midfield of Jackson, Mikey Passmore Stewart Lewis and Kristian Howells controlling play, Fforest remained on the back foot.
The Doer laid siege to the visitors’ goal with Jackson, Hunt and Howells all hitting the woodwork. Another two efforts were cleared off the line and a blatant hand ball by a Fforest defender in the area went unpunished.
Finally Hunt hit his fifth of the game with another right -footed strike and son afterwards, with the Fforest management shouting to their defenders to keep Hunt on his left foot, he duly unleashed a left-footed screamer from 25 yards into the roof of the visitors’ net.
To Fforest’s credit they got a late consolation goal, but on the day were completely outplayed by a rampant Doer side who, on this evidence, can go into this month’s fixtures in a confident mood.
The Doer second eleven again recorded an excellent 2-1 away victory at Pilcs, with goals from 16-year-old Mikey Richards, his first for the club, and club stalwart Scott Horseman.
This Saturday the Doer first team are away to second placed Newport Corries while the second eleven entertain Panteg .
